about us
BiCDC designed its curriculum to support a holistic development cognitively, physically, socially and spiritually as enshrined in the National Education Philosophy. As much as ensuring the child develop cognitively (IQ) we also focus on the development of the child’s emotional as well as social quotient (ESQ).

BiCDC’s curriculum is not stagnant but is subject to on-going re-adjustments and modifications to meet the ever changing trends of global education. Our emphasis is no longer solely on academic achievements. We want to start early to develop and mould every child to be globally competitive. Hence, we have infused into our curriculum, among others, the acquisition of problem-solving skills, parallel thinking skills, verbal reasoning skills, lateral thinking skills, analytical thinking skills and logical thinking skills. These skills, over time, will not only equip your child with a love of inquiry and lifelong learning, but it will be able to make them connect different pieces of knowledge and create new knowledge independently.

Our preschool program is filled with simple investigations, experimentations as well as discovery learning. Through intentional teaching practices, purposefully-designed environments plus enriching activities, our teachers will ensure that pre-schoolers have a great time learning and undergoing meaningful experiences.

The World of Language

We offer a comprehensive approach that thoughtfully and intentionally addresses all aspects of language and literacy. Our curriculum provides children with opportunities to integrate listening, reading, speaking and writing into daily activities within the classroom.

The World of Numbers/Numerical

We offer a framework for developing the skills and abilities of young mathematicians, ensuring that children recognize math in everyday life. Classroom environments and accompanying experiences are designed to support pre-schoolers as they continually develop their mathematical thinking and quantitative reasoning. Math ensures children do not simply memorize numbers but instead builds mathematical reasoning skills so they can solve problems and use math in real and meaningful ways. Core areas of focus include classification, spatial relations, understanding of numbers, and geometry and measurement.

The World of Science

Science is part of everything children do every day. Our preschool children are constantly engaged in simple research and experimentation, testing a hypothesis, exploring properties, making important discoveries and learning how things work. Science expands on preschoolers’ innate interest in science by ensuring they have a myriad of meaningful scientific opportunities to explore the world around them which include discovery and inquiry. In BiCDC, teachers carefully plan science experiments that include scientific concepts and facts, nurture curiosity, wonder, engagement with the natural world, critical thinking and inquisitive approach toward learning.

The World of Art and Design

Art Smart ensures that children are engaged in comprehensive, authentic, and diverse creative experiences in all areas including visual arts, music, dance/creative movement, and drama. Art nurture children’s artistic abilities and help them to appreciate art in the broader world. BiCDC infuses art into the preschool environment and offers preschoolers a variety of creative experiences, enhance their cognitive development, support their self-expression, and nurture the budding artist in each child.

Our World

BiCDC understands that children who have positive self-identities and who feel they have value in the world will be more successful in life. Therefore, this process must start early when pre-schoolers are actively developing their sense of self and who they are in the world. Studying their communities and the broader world cultivates an important social and emotional development, relationship skills, environmental responsibility, and an appreciation of diversity.

Our World curriculum presents unique experiences to help children understand the diverse and global world they inhabit, enhancing their sense of responsibility and compassion for people here and abroad. Teachers cultivate the development of these important competencies through modelling and activities and by creating a preschool environment that is respectful and diverse.

Wellness

Promoting physical development and wellness is a fundamental responsibility of any high-quality early childhood program. Children are growing up in a society with an array of choices – some healthy and beneficial, others harmful and risky. Because young children are forming attitudes and behaviours that will influence them throughout their lives, it is imperative to expose them to experiences that foster their abilities to make good decisions, develop a positive self-image, make healthy nutrition choices, and show respect for their bodies.

A curriculum on wellness provides pre-schoolers with varied opportunities and materials to develop concepts of wellness, as well as the knowledge and skills to practice healthy lifelong habits. Using the many Wellness resources, teachers at BiCDC can help children to develop their physical abilities, enhance their self-esteem, and nurture healthy habits – all of which contribute to a readiness to learn and the confidence to master new challenges.

A curriculum on wellness includes developing appropriate social responsibilities that provide children with experiences to learn values and to respect individual contributions as well as appreciate cultural identities and heritage. Our program seeks to help children understand their individual and collective rights and responsibilities as members in society.
